We've had a wonderful start to the league season; make no mistake about that. However, this is a tough league and we're not going to have things our own way all the time. Our recent form, particularly away from home, is a slight concern.
And we have finally come unstuck, twice, on our travels to Manchester City and Liverpool. A great individual goal by Carlos Tevez, after a mistake in our midfield, led to a 0-1 defeat for us in Manchester, while a Fernando Torres double aided by some brilliant (and lucky) goalkeeping from Reina led to a 0-2 defeat at Anfield.
The bottom line is this: we're human, and there will be days when things don't go our way. I think that we will get things right most of the time, and we must still be favorites to defend our league title. Where I am more concerned is with our chances in the Champions League. Our bench, while young and promising, with the likes of McEachran and Kakuta waiting for their chances, is not game-changing. This means our hopes are going to rest mainly with our starters and Carlo is going to be somewhat handcuffed by the lack of weapons coming off the bench.
So, don't buy too much into the hype either way, i.e. "Chelsea are going to sweep all trophies" or "The defeat at Anfield spells crisis at the Bridge". We're somewhere in the middle, much closer to the fore than the latter, but still unable to take anything for granted.
